The City of Austin Economic Development Department's Small Business Program, in partnership with the Dougherty Arts Center, will host the 8-week seminar beginning September 6, 2016, and continuing on consecutive Tuesday evenings, 6:30-9:30 p.m., through October 25. Local arts professionals Andrea Ariel, Zell Miller III, Dharmesh Patel, Leticia Rodriguez, and Roy Rutngamlug will act as local facilitators and lead the training sessions along with City staff.

Artist INC Live Austin 2016

Eight weekly sessions will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 pm at ​the Doughtery Art Center 1110 Barton Springs Road.

Applications will be accepted May 2nd- June 27th. 

Eligibility

Artist INC Live Austin is open to artists of all disciplines.  Applicants must be 18 years of age or older, and may not be a degree-seeking student. 

How to Apply

If you wish to apply, please complete the Artist INC Live ​Austin application online through the Submittable system. 

Applications are reviewed by representatives of the partnering organizations as well as artists and arts professionals in the field.  The selected participants will reflect a balanced cross-section of artists from multiple disciplines, backgrounds and ethnicities.

Fees

If you are selected to participate in Artist INC Live, there is a $150 fee. Even with the participant fee, the program is heavily subsidized. As a result of this subsidization, participants are required to attend all sessions of the workshop, barring illness or emergency. Please review the schedule to be sure that you are available for all of the sessions.

What Works Workshops

Want to learn more about What Works for fine artists to create sustainable careers?  Come to one of the What Works workshops presented in Austin.  Artist INC will teach you the ten things that make the difference in the business end of a fine arts practice and answer your questions on topics from marketing to taxes to copyright.  This is also a great chance to meet the Artist INC Live Austin Peer Facilitators and ask any questions you have about the Artist INC Live seminar.  The What Works workshops are free, but seating is limited and registration is required.
