Deadline: Proposals are due annually on September 15
Who: Open to all artists, with a special interest in artists from the Midwest. Artists of color are also encouraged to apply.
The Kansas City Artists Coalition accepts proposals for the Mallin and Jacqueline B. Charno Galleries on September 15 of every year. KCAC produces 7-8 exhibitions in each of the two galleries that are curated by its Exhibition Committee, from its annual call for artists. The Mallin Gallery is a loft type gallery with hardwood floors, track lighting and storefront windows with blinds. The square footage is 1420, ceiling height is 12 feet, and the linear measurement of walls used for hanging is 109 feet. The lighting is suspended approximately 9-½ from the floor in three banks, which run the length of the gallery East to West. The Jacqueline B. Charno Gallery is immediately accessible through the Mallin Gallery. The gallery has the same hardwood floors and track lighting as the Mallin Gallery. The square footage is 690 feet, ceiling height is 12 feet and the linear measurement of walls used for hanging is 88 feet. The lighting is suspended approximately 9-½ feet from the floor in three banks, which run the length of the gallery East to West. KCAC carries Fine Art Insurance, however, artists must insure their work to and from the gallery. KCAC takes a 30% commission on works sold.
The Exhibition Committee makes decisions to award solo, two-person or group exhibits. In addition, the committee reserves the right to place the exhibits in the gallery deemed most appropriate. Please let KCAC know about any scheduling conflicts you might have in your proposal. Artists will be notified after the first of the year as to the committee's decisions. All media is accepted. Work must have been completed in the past two years. Open to all artists, with a special interest in artists from the Midwest. Artists of color are also encouraged to apply.
To be considered, please submit: visual documentation (url and/or 20 digital images on CD, both MAC and PC compatible); inventory sheet (list of artworks submitted with thumbnail images including information about the media, size, date of completion, and price); artist statement; resume; support materials (reviews, catalogs, etc.); and a large self-addressed stamped envelope for the return of your materials (no SASE, no return of materials). Reasonable care will be taken of materials submitted, however, KCAC will not assume responsibility for loss or damage to materials while in our possession. Complete proposals are due September 15 of every year.
