Artist INC, a collaborative partnership of the Charlotte Street Foundation, the Arts Council of Metropolitan Kansas City, and the UMKC Innovation Center, announces a $30,000 grant from the Emily Hall Tremaine Foundation, a Connecticut-based national arts funder, to support business training seminars for local artists. The Artist INC grant is the first Tremaine Foundation award given to a Kansas City program or organization.

On Thursday, September 17 at 7 pm, artist and author Jackie Battenfield will be in Kansas City for an author talk and book signing at Unity Temple on the Plaza. Jackie’s new book, The Artist’s Guide: How to Make a Living Doing What You Love, has been called the ultimate how-to manual for working visual artists willing to "challenge the myth of the starving, disorganized artist."
